Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 July 2026 · Effective 15 July 2026
This policy explains what personal information Classiry collects as you buy, sell, and browse, why, and the control you keep. We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and, for users elsewhere, the EU and UK GDPR. Read it with our Cookie Policy and Terms of Service.
1. Who we are
Classiry is a trust-first classifieds marketplace operated by Bolrach Technologies Limited (“Classiry”, “we”, “us”), the data controller for the information described here. Reach us, and exercise any right below, through our contact page.
2. What we collect
- Account information. When you sign in we receive your name, email, and phone, and any profile details you add.
- Listings and content. Ads you post, photos, prices, descriptions, and the categories and location you choose.
- Messages and deals. Messages between buyers and sellers, and the details needed to arrange a deal.
- Verification and trust signals. Information used to verify you and to assess the safety of a listing or account, as part of our trust levels and Scam Shield.
- Device and connection data. IP address, device type, language, and approximate region, for security and local results.
- Cookies and similar technologies. As described in our Cookie Policy.
3. How and why we use it
| Purpose | Data used | Legal basis (NDPA / GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Create your account and sign you in | Account information | Contract |
| Show listings and local results | Listings, device data | Legitimate interests / consent for non-essential cookies |
| Let buyers and sellers reach each other | Messages, account info | Contract |
| Run trust levels and Scam Shield | Verification and trust signals, device data | Legitimate interests / legal obligation |
| Prevent fraud and keep people safe | Device data, reports | Legitimate interests |
| Comply with the law and lawful requests | As required | Legal obligation |
We do not sell your personal information. Listing details you publish are meant to be public in the marketplace.
4. Trust and Scam Shield
Classiry is trust-first, so we use signals about accounts and listings to protect you, such as verification level, listing quality, and reported behaviour. This helps us warn you, limit risky listings, and stop scammers. We aim to be fair and to review decisions where you ask. We do not use these signals to build advertising profiles.
5. Who we share it with
- Service providers. Companies that host the service, send email, and help prevent fraud, acting on our instructions under a contract.
- The other party in a deal. When you message a buyer or seller, we pass the details needed to arrange the deal.
- The public. Your listings and public profile are visible to everyone browsing.
- Legal and safety. Where we must comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect people from harm.
6. International transfers
Our infrastructure providers may process data outside Nigeria. Where personal data is transferred abroad we rely on an adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards (such as the Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum) as required by the NDPA and GDPR.
7. How long we keep it
We keep personal information while your account is active and for as long as we need it for the purposes above. We keep some safety and fraud records longer to protect the marketplace and where the law requires. Otherwise we delete or anonymise it.
8. Your rights
You can access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your data, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent where we rely on it. Use our contact page to exercise a right. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), or your local authority.
9. How we protect it
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring, and we limit who can see your information. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your password safe and be careful sharing personal details with other users.
10. Children
Classiry is for adults and is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
